Sure there's a story in fragments, but the fragments aren't connected at all, and require player to wander around aimlessly to find them by chance. Initially I saw someone play the first subnautica and wondered if the second part got anywhere yet the update is full of highlights of 'we added this, and this and these and you really should check them out before we re-do current story line.'Įxcept there isn't a 'story line'.

so I wandered around doing nothing until I got bored enough to check the wiki for hint where to head to. On the contrary I expected the thing in my head to say anything as these were apparent, but nothing happen. The swirly color effect at edge of screen didn't help at all really. This play I literally fumbled around doing nothing for couple of hours wondering if there is a trigger to the island and where that might be. Stumbling into the story is fine, as long as triggers for the event to happen are big enough.
